For 2024, the GHS returns to a favorite destination, Pinehurst, N.C. There’s a lot going on down there in “The Home of American Golf.” The U.S. Open was held there only recently and the USGA opened its newest Golf House at the Pinehurst Resort. The World Golf Hall of Fame has relocated there, too. All this and more, well, except for the U.S. Open earlier this season, await GHS visitors this fall.
A convention packet with all the news and information you need is being assembled and will be made available to all GHS members and posted on our website. Here’s a brief look at what’s scheduled so far.
Convention dates are Oct. 16-19. Our host hotel is the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Olmsted Village (250 Central Park Ave., Pinehurst, NC 28374).
Activities lineup:
Wednesday: Registration all day at Homewood Suites. The GHS Board will meet at 8 a.m. Early bird golf at the Hyland Golf Club in Southern Pines. If you’re not golfing, check out all the good things Pinehurst has to offer, but maybe set aside time for the evening reception at the new USGA headquarters.
Thursday: Early education session followed at 11 a.m. by GHS National Championship at the Longleaf Golf & Family Club in Pinehurst. Hickories, classics, modern clubs… there’s room for all. 19th Hole socializing will follow at Longleaf.
The GHS annual meeting is scheduled for Friday at 9 a.m. followed by educational sessions and lunch at the USGA Golf House in between. The Awards Banquet and cocktail hour is planned for the Country Club of North Carolina.
Saturday, of course, is devoted to our favorite show on the planet, the GHS Trade Show, to be held at the Fair Barn, a historic event venue in Pinehurst. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A promotional campaign is expected to attract local visitors.
