Golf Club Collecting

Uncover the Joy of Collecting

Why Collect Golf Clubs?

When people hear the words Golf Collector, most often their first thought is of hickory shafted golf clubs, and with good reason. Club collecting long dominated the subject and remains a top collecting category because of the large number of options for personally connecting with the implement on equal footing with the golf ball required for playing the game.

There were millions of hickory shafted clubs produced between 1900 and 1930, any of which can make intriguing wall hangers, but those with unusual characteristics are fascinating, both in appearance but particularly in revealing the evolution of the game and the mindset of those attempting to make the game easier, with or without success.  Gripping an old club brings visions of whoever used it and their struggles and triumphs along the way.  While today’s clubs are much improved versions, almost every new concept was at least tried long ago (large heads, metal headed woods, springy faces, movable weights, offset hosels, and on and on).
